Der "Urlaub" ist vorbei....

- pre Christmas update: from now on I'll try to write in almost understandable English too (it is rusty my English - so excuse me please!)

Liebe Besucherinnen und Besucher - dear visitors to my meager blog...

mein (Arbeits-)Urlaub hat sein Ende erreicht - my free week is at its end
and tomorrow I'll be back at work. And horror of horrors: last Friday a new software has been introduced and everyone should get harmoniously along with it Maybe this was premature Christmas present?

Morgen heißt es zurück an die andere Stätte meines Wirkens (die zum Gelderwerb) - oh Graus: wir haben eine neue Software "als Weihnachtsgeschenk" bekommen - und alles soll reibungslos laufen "räusper...."

Meine freie Woche war sehr kurzweilig mit Plätzchenbacken, Geschenke verpacken, einkaufen, zwei Weihnachtsessen (einmal mit den Kollegen/innen und das zweite mal mit meinen lieben Freundinnen).

Christmas cookies have been made, shopping and gift wrapping done but not finished, two X-mas dinners enjoyed (once with my colleagues from work and once with my friends - delicious Italian cooking!). I'm still not done with my Christmas preparations. Instead of ploughing ahead, as I should have done - I updated my Link List a bit (which took me away from my "duties" for a number of hours. Anyway.... I'm not done with the Link List either.

And socks AGAIN (you know, I CAN do other things too, just in case you didn't suspect something like this....) These socks were made for a gift exchange last year - this year's exchange present is still very secret so I cannot show you....

There is still some disappointment lingering - these pretty footsies didn't elicit a simple "thank you" from the recipient - nothing.
The pattern came from the Tongue River Farm sock booklet - I love every pattern in it and made a few in the meantime. They work out beautifully if I use normal four stranded sock yarn and 2,5 mm needles.

Das Bild zeigt meine Wichtelsocken vom letzten Jahr - das Wichtelgeschenk 2006 ist natürlich noch streng geheim und kommt erst nach Weihnachten zum Vorschein. Mir stinkt's immer noch, weil ich letztes Jahr nicht mal ein simples "danke" oder "angekommen" erhalten habe - ja, ich gebe es zu, ich bin nachtragend (und stur auch). Vielleicht ist ja noch nicht alles zu spät und ich werde ein besserer Mensch - aber der Weg zur Hölle ist bekanntlich mit guten Vorsätzen gepflastert.

Der nächste Vorsatz: ich will was anderes als Socken stricken!!! Wie bereits erwähnt, habe ich ja alle meine WIPs in eine große Kiste gesperrt bis die Vorweihnachtsprioritäten erledigt wären - bald ist es so weit. Ich habe auch fast alle angefangenen Socken fertig und nur noch zwei Paare auf den Nadeln, die auch bald fertig sein dürften. Wer mich kennt, weiß, dass sowas nicht so oft vorkommt.

Now: I want to knit something else....nearly all my sock WIPs are finished and then I shall go on to my big box of imprisoned other WIPs which I put away so the presents would hopefully be finished in time for the gift giving festivities. I'm almost done, puuuuhhh....

So, my dear sisters (and brothers?) in knitting, I'll be off to bed - good night and have nice & creative dreams!
